On the 19th August 1984 Vickers Varsity WJ897, a former RAF training aircraft maintained and flown by a group of enthusiasts known as the Leicester Aircraft Preservation Group (LAPG), made its last flight.
The aim of this website is to tell the story of the aircraft and the accident which befell it, and to provide a memorial for the aviation enthusiasts who died that day in 1984.
Click the page buttons above then select further pages to see the whole website.
If you have a link to the LAPG or would like to know more, please go to our 'contact us' page.
This is the sister site to our main website and is intended for tablet computers. Our main collection of photographs can be found on the main site although we have included some here which have come into our possession over the last few years.
We are always grateful for photographs, artifacts, documents and anecdotes about WJ897 and the LAPG, please use our 'Contact' page if you want to get in touch with us.
News - August 2016
Moonfruit will soon be closing this site own as they move to a service which is no longer free. As a result I am looking to move to a new host and will update as soon as I can, hopefully before the site is taken down.
